Why can't I use my digital Costco card at the food court? ›

Note: The digital payment option can only be used for Costco warehouse purchases (excluding the food court).

Organizations have the option to set up Digital Membership Cards, so that members receive a card attached to their Membership Confirmations. These Digital Membership Cards are compatible with all Apple's iOS devices (iPhones and iPads) and Google Wallet on Android devices.

In order to access your Digital Membership Card, you must have an active Costco membership and a mobile device with an OS version from the following list: Android Phones: Samsung Galaxy.

There's no need to wait for a card anymore – your membership card is already in the Sam's Club app, so you never lose it. Just download the app and log in to get started as soon as you join. One note: We're trying to reduce our footprint on the planet, and you can help!

Costco relies on membership fees to drive most of its revenue and help keep merchandise prices low. The new card-checking policy is the latest effort to put a stop to non-members' taking advantage of the benefits.

You will be required to show your membership card when entering any Costco warehouse and when checking out at a payment register. Bar codes, photos or other copies are not acceptable. Your membership card must have a card number and recognizable, unobstructed full-face photo to be valid.

Can I get the $8 Sam's Club membership online free? ›

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — You can get a full year's membership at Sam's Club for just $8. The company said Thursday that it will offer the lower rate for new memberships from June 17-26. It's only available to new memberships and it's not available online. To get the deal, you have to visit a Sam's Club in person.

Membership cards are non-transferable and are inclusive to card and household cardholders. With a membership you are granted one primary membership card and another card for a spouse or member of your household 18 years of age or older. For security purposes, ONLY YOU the member on record, may use your membership card.

Sadly, this is no longer true for nonmembers. Since early 2020, Costco has required a membership card to buy anything at the food court, including chicken bakes, barbecue beef brisket sandwiches, ice cream and churros.

(To be clear, you can't just shop at the store without a membership because you need to have your card scanned at checkout. But you don't need to have your card scanned at the food court register.)

Digital Shop Cards received from costco@digitalshopcard.costco.com are valid and yours to use! Costco Digital Shop Cards may be used to shop at any Costco location or online at Costco.com and Costco.ca. At this time, Digital Shop Cards cannot be redeemed at Food Court kiosks or Gas Stations.
